OPTIMIST CLUB
Summerville-Trion Optimist Club is sponsoring a grocery giveaway at Save-A-Lot Food Store. Purchase a ticket for $100.00 for an opportunity to receive a 3 minute shopping spree. The drawing is May 9th at the Optimist meeting and the shopping spree is May 10th. Proceeds will benefit the Boys/Girls Club.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS
The Chattooga County School System held it's annual Special Olympics at Chattooga High School. Participants were from all of the schools, as well as Trion City Schools. The students had a great time and did an excellent job. Congratulations to all of the participants on their outstanding performances!

FESTIVAL OF STARS
The Chattooga County Navigator Team, a project of Parent to Parent of Georgia, invites you to attend the Festival of Stars. This festival will recognize the special athletes and contributors of the 2014 Special Olympics.

SCHOOL MAKE-UP DAYS
The following days have been set aside to make up for the days of school we missed when we had snow and severe temperatures:

100 DAYS OF SCHOOL
March 10th marked the 100th day of school at LMES. The students had a blast with activities centered around this special day. Doors were decorated, students made t-shirts, and "100" was a part of the day's lesson plans. The students survived 100 days of school!!!

YOUNG AUTHORS COMPETITION
Congratulations to Logan Lary and Andeisha Stewart for being selected as winners at their grade level in the Chattooga County Young Authors contest. County winners will be recognized at the Summerville First Baptist Church for their outstanding writing samples. Congratulations!

KIDS WITH CHARACTER
"Kids with Character" are rewarded each month because they dispay that particular month's character trait. Students are chosen by their classroom teachers because of their outstanding behavior that emulates the trait. The students get to eat lunch at McDonalds with Mr. Beasley. This month's character trait is "Kindest".

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Kindergarten Registration for the 2013-14 at LMES will be done at CCEC (old Pennville Elementary) for the upcoming school year on these three dates: March 28th, April 22nd, and May 15th. Listed below is the necessary documentation for registration.

--Certified copy of birth certificate
--Social Security Card
--Proof Immunization
--Eye, Ear, Dental Certificate
--Proof of Residency

*If you do not have all five of these documents, your child WILL NOT be enrolled. For questions, contact Bevery Bishop or Jannie Burrage at CCEC (706-857-5323).
CHATTOOGA TRIBE CHALLENGE
The Chattooga Athletic Boosters are sponsoring the Chattooga Tribe Challenge 5K Road Race and 1 or 2 Mile Health Walk on April 26th. The road race will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 8:35 a.m. at Dowdy Park. Awards will be given for the male and female winner in each age category and for overall winners. Students and employees of Chattooga County Schools can pre-register at the schools for $10 through March 28th. All other pre-registrations are $20 and on-site registrations are $25. Come out and walk or run to support Chattooga Athletics on April 26th!
SNOW DAYS
If you have any good pictures of when the students were out for the snow days, please send them to Christy Lea (clea@chattooga.k12.ga.us). We would like to add some snow day pictures to the yearbook. Thanks.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM

LMES held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly developed outdoor classroom. Thank you to Kendra Stallings for heading up the project and getting so many volunteers to make this possible through Lowe's Toolbox for Education Grant. The classroom will be utilized by the students for years to come!

TOTY
 "Teachers of the Year" at each school were recognized at a recent board meeting. Award winners were chosen by fellow teachers for their excellence in the classroom. Congratulations to Denver Pate for being chosen as Teacher of the Year for Leroy Massey Elementary School! LMES would also like to congratulate Lauren Jarrett @SMS for being chosen Teacher of the Year for Chattooga County School System.

T-SHIRTS
LMES is selling t-shirts for $5 a piece. Each shirt is red with black print (example shown). Information will be sent home with each child about purchasing a shirt for students and their family. Show your school spirit and purchase a t-shirt today!
HAT DAY
Every Friday will be "Hat Day". Students who bring in $1 will be able to wear their favorite hat during school.
