WRITING COMPETITION
Future Problem Solving is an international program that focuses on the development of creative thinking skills.  The aim of the Future Problem Solving is to develop critical, creative, and futuristic thinking skills.  The 4th and 5th grade gifted students from Chattooga County competed in the Scenario Writing Component of Future Problem Solving.  The students selected a current topic and researched it.  Then they used this research to solve a futuristic problem they had created in a scenario form.  The paper had to be between 1,000 and 1,500 words.  The three county-wide winners were:  Landon Stephens and Adam Dawson from Leroy Massey Elem., and John Michael Martin from Menlo Elementary School.  Their stories will go on to compete regionally.
CAREER DAY
Leroy Massey Elementary School had Career Day sponsored by the gifted program. Students dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up...doctors, teachers, and even a principal (Coach Pate). Thanks to all of the students who participated!
